What is keto?

A ketogenic diet is an intake of low-carb and high fat in your diet. It helps you to fulfill your demand for achieving good fitness goals. It helps you in helping your dream of weight loss and getting you in your posture you have dreamt for long.

This diet works on the stored fat. The required energy is taken from the stored fat. The stored fat works as the fuel for the functioning of the body. A good intake of low carb and high and healthy fat is good for the body.

When you eat a diet rich in carbohydrates, your body converts those carbs into glucose, which regulates your blood sugar level.

Glucose is your body’s preferred energy source. As long as you take carbohydrates in your meals. The body glucose converts it into sugar and then they are converted into energy levels.

Your body starts burning fat by removing the carbs of your body.

If glucose is present the body, then the body takes energy from the carbs present in the body. It is good if the body uses energy from the fats of the body.

It initially works on removing the water from the body. This process, first dehydrates the body, so it good if you take fruits and veggies that have good water content in them. Dehydration causes constipation in the body.

In Ketosis, your liver converts fatty acids into ketone bodies also known as ketones.  When you replace calories and decrease carb-intake with healthy carbs and fats, then the body becomes keto-adapted. This is how the keto diet works effectively on the person following a perfect keto diet.

  • Acetone- It is an organic compound. This is available in the environment. It is also used in labs to create some industrial products.

Perfect keto diet comes with the low-carb intake of meals in a diet.  However, the main difference between the two is their macronutrient levels. A low-carb diet has no fat wheres keto diet includes no carbohydrates in its meal plan. In a low-carb diet, there is no intake of fats in the diet plan.

Even the goals of the two diets vary from each other. The goal of the keto diet is to ketosis, giving posture to the body by burning the body fat. The stored body fat is burnt and used as a fuel for the proper functioning of the body.

With a low-carb intake of food, you may never enter into ketosis. As some diets cut down the carb intake for some small duration of time and then add the carb intake in the diet.

How to know when you are in ketosis?

The only good way to monitor your ketone levels is through the process of testing. This testing process can be done by sitting at home as well. When you eat on the ketogenic diet, excess ketones spill over into several areas of the body. This will help you in measuring ketone levels in various ways:

  • In your urine with a test strip
  • In your blood with a glucose meter
  • On your breath with a breath meter

Each method has its advantages and disadvantages, but measuring ketones in your blood is often the most effective. Although it’s the most affordable, urine testing is typically the least accurate method.
